Chemistry and integrated teaching of natural sciences in secondary school

The doctoral thesis deals with the specification of factors that influence the implementation of integrated teaching positively or negatively. It presents the results of research mapping the current situation regarding integrated teaching in secondary schools in the Czech Republic. It also presents the opinions of secondary school teachers on integrated teaching and the possibilities of its implementation. The results were obtained by questionnaire survey and Q methodology, which was designed for the online environment via Google Slides. Among other things, the research results point to factors from a total of 4 areas, which, according to the respondents, play an important role for the integration of integrated teaching in education. These areas are undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education, external conditions (for example, the approach of school management), the third area is focused on the teacher's personality, and the last area is focused on pupils and their parents. It follows from the obtained results that the factor positively influencing the implementation of integrated teaching (hereinafter referred to as IT) is the perception of the importance and content of IT by teachers. The posibilities and limits of using ICT during the 1. grade

The theme of the thesis is the Possibilities of using ICT at the first level of elementary school, but also the definition of negatives and limitations in teaching at elementary school. The thesis is divided into two parts, namely the theoretical part and the practical part of the work. I focus mainly on the use of ICT and on the prerequisites for introducing ICT into elementary schools and subsequently on the individual ICT tools in elementary schools and the possibilities of their use. The use of ICT is understood as a tool for developing pupils' general and cross-curricular competence and for developing communication and critical thinking at the first level of elementary school. Innovative teaching methods based on active and empirical learning and expanded by information and communication technologies can increase the engagement of pupils and improve their results, as shown by the questionnaire survey and the chapters of the theoretical part of the thesis. Comparison of students' and teachers' views on the contribution of vocational education to future path of the graduates

The thesis is dealing with vocational education in Czech Republic. Particularly, it is focused on the comparison of students' and teachers' opinion on the contribution of vocational education to future path of the graduates. It has two parts - theory and research. Theoretical part begins with discussion about vocational and general education on the philosophical and empirical level. The specifics of Central Europe in this discussion are also mentioned. In the next part, system of vocational education in Czech Republic is presented, including its history and current issues. Theory is ended with providing statistics about changes in participation in education since 1989 and about the success of the graduates in the labour market in tertiary education. In practical part, interviews with students and teachers are conducted to find out their opinion about influence of upper secondary vocational education on the future success of the graduates.
